Amid the global energy transition, the demand for high-performance cables in solar photovoltaic (PV), wind power, and energy storage systems has surged. In solar power plants, cables are often exposed to high temperatures (e.g., rooftop PV systems can reach above 70°C). UL83 high-temperature cable materials typically operate long-term at 90°C–125°C, far exceeding conventional PVC (70°C–90°C), making them ideal for PV DC cables. Some modified formulations even achieve UL83+125°C certification, suitable for high-density, high-temperature environments.

(2) Excellent UV and Weather Resistance
Outdoor PV cables must withstand UV radiation, rain, and extreme temperature cycling. UL83 weather-resistant compounds are often enhanced with UV stabilizers, performing exceptionally well in tests like the UL1581 Weathering Test, ensuring over 25 years of outdoor service life. In contrast, standard PVC cables tend to crack and degrade under prolonged sun exposure.

(3) High Flame Retardancy and Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) Properties
Energy storage systems and indoor PV installations demand stringent fire safety standards. UL83 flame-retardant cable materials not only pass the rigorous UL VW-1 vertical flame test, but some halogen-free formulations also comply with IEC 60754 low-smoke zero-halogen standards, emitting minimal smoke and toxic gases when burned—making them safer for enclosed spaces.
